Our history
Our business opened in 1921, thanks to the insight of Vittorio Melecchi: at first the facility was a “locanda” (an inn) and included a diner, a lodging house and stables. Historically the Hotel Melecchi is part of an area of Lucca dedicated to guest reception: in fact, the hotel is located in a street where there are many other hosting infrastructures.
Passion, professionality and dedication have been passed on to the next generations. First to nonna Elsa (Vittorio’s daughter) and to her son Marino, then (in 2001) Rossella (Marino’s wife) and their firstborn Giovanni took over.
In 2001 the Hotel was deeply renovated: since then, the facility has been dedicated to hosting and serving appetizing breakfasts, in an environment that blends antique elements with contemporary touches, close to Lucca’s city centre.

LOCATION
Hotel Melecchi is an integral part of its surroundings.
In fact, it’s only 900 metres from the Guinigi Tower, 6 km from Villa Reale di Maria and around a 30-minute drive from the natural wonders of Garfagnana. The Hotel is also very close to the San Luca Hospital and to the main medical facilities in the centre of Lucca.
A supermarket and a winery are just a few steps from the Hotel. The winery is very appreciated by tourists and Lucchese people alike, close by you will also find a renowed pasticceria (bakery) and a dry cleaning. Many historic pizzerie are just around the corner.
Pisa Airport is only 19 km away, while the Livorno Harbour is 50 km away.
This part of Lucca is one of our guests’ favourite, based on independent reviews. Couples enjoyed its location: it was rated 9,2 for a two-people trip.
The Hotel is just a 5-minute walk from Santa Gemma Convent, a renowed and beloved place of cult.
We cooperate with agencies dedicated to organizing touristic bicyle itineraries and we are located right on the Via Francigena: during the years we were able to host many pilgrims (when possible we are available to store your means of trasport while the walk goes on).
